Patricia Kobelin
Patricia Kobelin (“Patti”) is a Fort Lauderdale native and a lifelong artist. Primarily self-taught, she studied at Broward College – Fine Arts as well as various private instruction, but primarily learned through exploring what is possible. Her lifelong passion for art led her to various media, including photography ( manual camera/darkroom), ceramics, color pencil, pen & ink, pastel, lost-wax gold/silver jewelry, fiber art, mosaics and sign graphics. Her natural talent is composition, yet she’s forever exploring whimsical subjects just to see if she can. Hidden inspiration appears in unexpected places and unusual angles! Art is about noticing and embracing it when it appears.”
Artist statement:
Shoes are our daily physical contact with Mother Earth. Eternal energy from our planet flows through our soles and souls, even as you read this. The invention of shoes has contributed to humanity’s triumph as a species. Appreciate how footwear, both fashion and practical, creates and promotes societal movements and has even changed culture itself. Entire artisan industries and fortunes have been sparked by footwear. The spirit with which people see themselves and how one adorns one’s body, projects energy. My energy translates to these creations.
