Sam Koren
From an early age and throughout his life, Sam has been captivated by the visual art of storytelling-whether held in the quiet stillness of a photograph, or the unfolding rhythm of a film. The act of seizing a moment, a feeling, or a fleeting thought and giving it form for the world to witness became a calling. It led him to Camera Obscura, the renowned school of visual arts in Tel Aviv, where he immersed himself in film photography and editing.
His path then carried him to New York, where he explored traditional and 3D animation and began a lifelong journey as a web designer. Yet the pull of the lens never left him. The desire to preserve those fragile, unrepeatable instants-first on film and later in digital form-remained at the core of his creative spirit.
Drawn to the beauty of the weathered and the worn, Sam has in recent years found new inspiration in street photography: in unguarded faces, in emotions revealed for a heartbeat, in the vulnerability that surfaces the moment the shutter falls. He seeks the quiet uniqueness of the world around him—on a walk through the city or a simple local hike-belleving that what truly matters is the eye behind the lens, not the sophistication of the equipment.
His work has been exhibited in Philadelphia and New York. He was among a select group of artists from the Philadelphia Photography and Art Center invited to participate in their first-ever silent auction at the annual gala, and later was chosen to present his work, for a few years in a row, at InLiquid’s Annual Silent Auction & Beneft.
